Preventing image stealing by visitors

At times you may wish to prevent visitors from taking images from your site. Below is a JavaScript that will prevent most visitors from stealing your images when they right-click an image and attempt to perform a "Save As..."

No Right Click Script

< /div>
<script language=JavaScript>

var message="Your message goes here.";
function click(e) {
if (document.all) {
if (event.button == 2) {
return false;
if (document.layers) {
if (e.which == 3) {
return false;
if (document.layers) {

Right-click and select "Save Target As"

To use the No Right Click script:

  1. Right-click the link in the above box and select "Save Target As". (You will be prompted to select a location to download the file. Download to desktop recommended.)
  2. Open the text file you downloaded and copy the code (Press Ctrl + C to copy).
  3. Open your page in SiteBuilder .
  4. Click the Add Images & Files Element category menu.
  5. Select the "Insert HTML" Element.

  6. (A placeholder Element appears on your page.)
  7. Click the [Enter or paste HTML] button in the Properties Editor.
  8. (The HTML Snippet dialog appears.)
Figure 1: The HTML Snippet dialog.
  1. Paste the code you copied within the field in the HTML Snippet dialog by pressing Ctrl + V on your keyboard.
  2. Edit the message that will appear by changing the text that currently reads "your message goes here". For example, you could change the text to read, "These images may not be saved and are protected by copyright."
Warning: There are ways for visitors to the site to bypass this form of image protection. This script can only discourage the average visitor. If you do not wish to have your images stolen by determined individuals, do not place them on a web site, or add a password to the page.
